TMCnet Microsoft Lync Solution Week in Review

It was a busy week in the Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync solution sector, with several noteworthy events.

First, Plantronics, a major player in audio communications for businesses and consumers, has unveiled a suite of products designed specifically to make communication with Microsoft Lync easier in any environment. The Plantronics (News - Alert) Optimized for Microsoft Lync 2013 portfolio, which was announced at the Lync Conference in San Diego, features a number of devices ranging from Bluetooth headsets, to USB phones and speakerphones.

Indeed, the Lync 2013 portfolio includes the Voyager Legend UC headset and the Blackwire 700 series headsets, which can deliver contextual information – such as a person’s proximity to their PC – to software via sensors. To read more about the new suite of products, click here.

In other Microsoft Lync solution news, snom technology AG (News - Alert) announced that its UC Edition IP business phones are now qualified by Microsoft as fully interoperable with Microsoft Lync Server 2013.

snom 7xx series, including the snom 760, 720 and 710 IP phones – which are now qualified for Microsoft Lync – offer businesses three models of affordable, full-featured IP phones. The snom 760 UC edition desktop phone is touted as being at “executive level,” and is designed for the corner office. The snom 720 UC edition IP phone is specifically designed for the “middle manager or information-driven knowledge worker.”

Finally this week, NetSocket completed the implementation of the Microsoft Lync Network Diagnostics API, and it’s all the better for it. Thanks to Lync, the latest version of Netsocket’s Cloud Experience Manager (CEM) provides improved visibility into IP network issues in real-time, allowing for quicker resolution and lowered TCO.

NetSocket’s IP Correlation Engine now supports the new Microsoft Lync real-time service assurance API: Microsoft Lync Network Diagnostics API. It can provide IP topology path identification in real-time, along with recording of all media streams for Lync calls.
