Interoute recently announced the introduction of its Hosted Lync service to support on-demand communication requirements of a highly interactive workforce over multiple devices and in different forms. The integration of Hosted Lync with Interoute's Video as a Service Cloud makes it easy for Lync users to both join and host video conferences using either internal or external end devices without having to worry about connectivity. This service is delivered by the company as a part of a standard service package. Furthermore, by including its Microsoft (News - Alert) Certified SIP trunking capability, the company has improved its Hosted Lync service with full PSTN and mobile termination, in addition to inbound calling with DDIs across more than 50 countries.

In a statement, Matthew Finnie, CTO, Interoute said that, “In today’s on-demand world, communication has to happen seamlessly across multiple devices and in different forms, whether voice, video, IM or another collaboration channel. The need for truly flexible communications within arm’s reach is a necessity, not just a ‘nice to have’. The launch of Interoute’s Hosted Lync service is an exciting part of this evolution, empowering a more interactive workforce, whilst reducing the challenges for businesses to implement and manage new technology.”

Interoute Hosted Lync has been designed as a Unified Communications (News - Alert) as a Service (UCaaS) solution which Interoute hosts over its Virtual Data Centre (VDC) platform. Designed with a short deployment time, the service can be up and running within a matter of days. Interoute provides the service at a fixed monthly price for each customer instance. Furthermore, the customer’s are not required to invest and maintain valuable resources that they would otherwise have to if they had to design, purchase, and manage the solution themselves.

A highlighting feature of the new service is that it has been integrated with Interoute’s Video as a Service Cloud, which allows all Hosted Lync clients to easily join or host video conference meetings regardless of the device type and whether or not the devices support IP, ISDN and other types of connectivity.
