This week’s Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync Solutions sector was busy so let’s get into the news with this week’s Microsoft Lync Solution week in review.

First, Microsoft revealed its Microsoft Lync app, which allows users to communicate in real-time. As a staple in the corporate world, the company decided it would be a good idea to give corporate users the ability to connect with one another on the go in a user-friendly way. The app includes the ability to receive VoIP and video calls from all Lync 2013 mobile apps, a desktop and app share view, the ability to view colleagues’ availability and select ways to communicate with users.

“I’m excited to share that the Windows Phone (News - Alert) app is available today and that the app for iPhone and iPad are available now,” said the Lync team in a blog post. “Lync 2013 Mobile brings a number of improvements and new features.”

Next, Novus, a telecommunications and IP distributor, signed a distribution contract with Sennheiser. Novus will now expand its distribution of Microsoft Lync-optimized and VoIP headsets. Circle Series, DW Series and Culture Series wired and wireless office call center and VoIP headsets will be distributed by Novus. Recently, Sennheiser released the addition of new models to its wired Circle Series and Culture Series, and wireless DW Series portfolios.

“Sennheiser is an international innovator in best-in-breed audio equipment and headsets, and we’re proud to lead this respected company into the Lync world. Our goal is to expand Sennheiser’s product reach in Microsoft Lync environments, and bring its advanced wired and wireless headset technology to the call center and office masses,” said Chris Meehan, managing partner, Novus, LLC.

In other news, Ingram Micro (News - Alert) expanded its Microsoft Hosted Solutions Portfolio with Office 365. The company’s Microsoft Cloud OneStop team in North America will now offer customers sales, marketing and technical support.
